Android Patch Updates
This update can also be flashed over a custom ROM, as you can use it to upgrade the phone to the latest possible 2017 firmware. Here's what you need to know before starting the flashing process:
- use this guide only with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo G903F models.
- don't use the tutorial for other different Galaxy S5 models.
- the model number of your phone has to be the SM - G903F. - download the Samsung USB Drivers from here and install them on your PC.
- for the update process you can use the ODIN tool, and that's why you have to install the above usb drivers, as otherwise Odin cannot connect with your PC. - also, you need to enable USB Debugging from Developer Options.
- if you cannot find Developer Options, then you have to go to Settings> About Phone> Software Info and tap seven times on the Build Number text.
- return to Settings, Developer Options will now be listed here.
- open DevOptions and enable USB Debugging. - you can install the new update files over rooted firmware, but you have to know that root access won't survive the update process.
- any custom Recovery will be replaced with stock Recovery. - the new firmware update can be installed over a custom ROM using the same ODIN app, but you will have to Factory Reset the device after the new update is done installing.
- the Factory Reset process wipes clean system partition, it removes the old custom ROM and it forces the Galaxy S5 Neo to boot in normal mode.
- note that the factory reset steps are listed at the end of the tutorial.
- the factory reset process won't delete any data from internal storage. - if your smartphone runs 100% stock Android firmware, then you can get straight to the next part of this post and learn how to update the phone.
- check battery charge level and make sure that there is enough battery power before it switches off.
- read the whole post and do not skip any steps.
- this guide has to be applied only by advanced users, we cannot be blamed in case you brick the device nor in case you lose any data files.

If you are unsure about installing the new update manually, then you can wait until Samsung pushes the new update in your region.
You can look for new software updates by going to Settings> Software Update> Download Updates manually menu. If a new file is ready to download, then confirm the process and your smartphone will take care of the rest of the process automatically.
How to install the Android 6.0.1 Blueborne Security Fix update for Galaxy S5 Neo G903F:
- Download the Android 6.0.1 firmware update file from here.
- When the download is done you have to save all the files on your PC.
Don't extract the tar.md5 firmware update files. - Download Odin 3.12 zip from here.
Unzip the files on your PC. - Power off the phone.
- Now boot it in Download Mode.
- Launch the ODIN app on your computer.
- Connect the Galaxy S5 NEO to PC via usb cable.
Wait for ODIN to detect the device, then continue to the next step.
- if ODIN doesn't detect your phone, then you will have to reinstall the Samsung USB drivers again. - Now go to ODIN and load the files needed for the update.
Click BL, go to the folder created at step 2 and load the file that contains the 'BL' letters in its name.
Click AP, and load the file with 'AP' in its name.
Click CSC and load the file with 'HOME_CSC' in its name. Don't load the 'CSC' file, as that one will wipe clean the entire smartphone.
Click CP and load the file with 'CP' in the name.
NOTE: if the extracted contents contain only a file with AP in its name, then that's the only file you have to load in ODIN. So, load that file and the install should work. - Hit START when you're ready to begin the updating process.
- don't press any buttons until the update is done flashing.
When installation is done you will see the PASS alert shown by ODIN. - Unplug the phone from PC and wait for the first boot to complete.
- Use your usual unlock code to regain control over your smartphone once again.

If the FAIL alert is shown by ODIN, or any other thing prevents you from completing installation, then you will have to repeat the whole tutorial more than once.

If you repeat the flashing process you need to make sure that your phone meets all requirements and that you will not be skipping any steps.
NOTE:
If ODIN says that the installation was passed, but your Galaxy S5 NEO enters in a boot loop, or in case it gets stuck at the boot animation screen, then you will have to Factory Reset the device.
The Factory Reset process has to be applied in case you have installed the update over a custom ROM, too. The phone will not boot with the new stock firmware otherwise.
How to factory reset Galaxy S5 Neo from Recovery Mode:
- power off the phone.
- boot it in Recovery Mode.
- select 'wipe data/ factory reset' option.
- confirm process.
- reboot device in normal mode.
